Addictions Counsellor

I am a specialist addictions counselling therapist with Sydney Addiction Therapy. I offer trauma informed modalities and practices to help my clients achieve their personal growth and addiction recovery goals.
I understand the role trauma can have in mental health, especially addiction and addictive behaviours. Growing up in my childhood I experienced traumatic events that have strongly impacted my life. I lived with family members affected by addiction and trauma which has given me lived insight into how addiction and trauma impact our lives and, most importantly, how to heal from them. In my own journey of healing, I have gathered many useful and effective healing modalities which are now part of my toolkit as a therapist.
Working with me as my client you will experience a holistic approach where I integrate the science of psychology with client-centered humanistic therapies. I integrate a wide range of modalities and practices to address the physical, emotional, and energetic aspects of healing, and these include breathwork and body-based healing approaches.
I completed undergraduate Psychology studies with Sydney University, a Psychology Honours degree from Monash University and a Master of Counselling from Monash University. In my home town of Prague Czech Republic I studied Physiotherapy science.
I am a BodyAwakeYoga certified yoga teacher, and a certified Energy Medicine Practitioner. I also hold a Certification in Working with Substance Addictions, Seeking Safety (a well-researched approach to treating addictions and trauma), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and I am also certified in Somatic Psychotherapy approach for Complex Trauma. I have also worked as a Lifeline Crisis Support worker, helping people manage crisis situations, guiding them back to safety and referring them to other mental health resources.

Addictions Counsellor

I view the challenge of addiction as an opportunity for growth and transformation, an approach based on professional training and enhanced by the wisdom of lived experience. I hold an MBA, a Graduate Certificate in Counselling, and am completing my Master of Counselling internship.
My practise is informed by a diverse background in coaching, mentoring, and change management processes that facilitate transformation supportive of growth, resilience, and new behaviours. Having successfully navigated recovery from a decade-long addiction; I now possess a deep, firsthand understanding of the complex challenges of dependence and recovery. This lived experience enables me to meet my clients with empathy, authenticity, respect and professional expertise.
My therapeutic approach is based on an integrative model combining behavioural, psychological, and existential perspectives. I am especially influenced by Gabor Maté and Bruce Alexander, who view addiction not as a disease to be eradicated but as a maladaptive way of coping with pain and shielding one’s inner self. I believe within the struggles of addiction lie the very qualities of resilience, adaptability, and creativity that, when guided and nurtured, underpin lasting recovery and meaningful change.
I see recovery from the dependence of addiction not only as reducing harmful behaviours, but also as a process of rebuilding trust in one’s capacity to make healthy choices, to adapt to change, and develop self-efficacy. I offer a safe, compassionate, and positive environment where I guide my clients into redefining their relationship with addiction, restore a sense of hopeful possibility, and develop the skills to live meaningful, values-driven lives.
I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches—including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Logotherapy (Viktor Frankl), and Social Cognitive Theory (SCT).
