Our Services
At Sydney Addiction Therapy we treat all addictive behaviours, because we understand addiction concerns are very often not isolated to one behaviour or substance.
Our therapists are highly qualified and experienced to work with addiction issues, offering a holistic approach that takes into account the whole of a person's life, not only the presenting concern.
Alcohol & Other Social Drugs
Alcohol and other drugs, both legal and illegal, are socially accepted substances in most cultures. They can often be introduced into our lives at a very young age, sometimes through family experiences, and sometimes through friends and peer introductions. At Sydney Addiction Therapy we understand it's through these very normalised ways that substances find their way into our lives, but also how they can become an out of control problem. This is where counselling therapy can be the solution.
Gambling, Shopping & Device Use
Modern technologies have put gambling and gaming in the palm of our hands. The more functionality modern devices offer, the more activities like work, shopping, socialising, communicating and being a sports fan can become compulsive. No matter if you have developed an 'old school' or device associated compulsion to gamble, shop, game, chat or watch sport, the outcome can be the same. At Sydney Addiction Therapy we can help you change compulsive habits and achieve your wellbeing goals.
Compulsive Food, Sport, Work & Sex
Compulsive behaviours are not an uncommon part of addiction but some people aren't compulsive with alcohol or drugs, it's other processes like over eating, working long hours and over training that become addictive. We've all joked about ourself or others being a chocoholic, workaholic, or sportsaholic but things can go beyond a joke when these relatively healthy behaviours become compulsively unhealthy. At Sydney Addiction Therapy we can help you understand why this is happening and how to get back in control.
Alcohol & Drug Driving & Possession
Whether you feel you need counselling or not, counselling may help the magistrate look upon you favourably. Taking the initiative to seek Addiction Counselling Therapy will show the court that you are taking the situation seriously, and are prepared to do something to resolve any personal issues relative to your case.
Addiction Counselling therapy for driving or possession offences can also be helpful in obtaining a section 10 as it will show to the court that you have taken steps to resolve your issues to ensure that you don’t reoffend.
Sydney Addiction Therapy offers a character reference and reports for court purposes after a minimum of 5 appointments (more is better). Documents such as this from your specialist therapist will increase your chances of receiving a lenient penalty. By taking positive action to resolve your issues, the court is more likely to award you a lenient penalty.
